Set their special attackers/walls Attack IVs to zero so they do less damage to themselves when confused?
It's definitely a thing for genners and powersavers, normally if you're breeding it isn't worth it due to the extra effort but if you can achieve a 0 Atk IV easily it's a great thing to have for an extra little trick.
A big thing is not only for confusion damage but also for Foul Play, Foul Play does significantly less if the ATK IV is 0 so overall yes, this is a thing.
